Starting July 27, SunPass will work in North Carolina - the first step in a long-awaited effort that will allow drivers to travel from Florida north to Maine and west to Illinois, paying tolls with their home state’s transponder. The I-Pass states are: Delaware Florida Illinois Indiana Kentucky Maine Maryland Massachusetts New Hampshire New Jersey New York North Carolina Ohio Pennsylvania Rhode Island West Virginia I-PASS and E-ZPass are also used in Ontario, Canada. Sixteen states use the E-ZPass system and also accept I-PASS. States connected to the E-ZPass system include Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and West Virginia. Temporary plates can be added as authorized I-PASS account users to pay tolls electronically and avoid violations.

I-PASS customers now have the ability to temporarily add license plates of traveling family and friends and rental cars to their I-PASS accounts.
